To start today’s session, I am provided with brand new hire boots, which are a tighter fit. As I am still trying to gain confidence on the main slope, I get to the top and spend a minute surveying the slope, looking for things which might trip me up. Note to self avoid the cordoned off section on the right half way down. I set off and do a slow run to test conditions, all seems well until I try to turn my left ski, I can feel my foot moving but not the ski, I manage to make it to the bottom without issue. Where I stop and tighten my boots more, the new boots had thrown me and I hadn’t buckled them up enough. This did the job as for the remainder of the session went without a hitch.

Reflection: Another session without falling over, I am still going slow and taking my time during the traverse but doing so in parallel. The issue with my boots has made my mind up to invest in my own boots. I had been considering it and putting it off due them costing upwards of £300. The other gear I had bought such as jacket and pants, could have had other uses if I didn’t continue and the helmet is an essential piece of safety equipment, unlike boots which are there for a specific task only. I am definitely becoming committed to my skiing journey.
