14th October 2024 - Carv

By now I had watched numerous hours of YouTube videos and some of them featured a product called Carv. In its first iteration (the ones in the videos) you add a piece of tech into the sole of you boots and it monitors your foot pressure whilst skiing and provides real time feedback. I thought this looks interesting but wasn’t sure if this was aimed at new skiers like me. I registered my interest on their website, at the time I didn’t realise a new iteration was coming out.

Today saw the release of the second iteration, which had moved from boot insoles to a gadget that attaches to your boot strap, it has a giro in it to monitor a number of different metrics while you ski. Still not sure if I am the target audience for it. I decided to give it a try for £159 you received a year subscription and the tech was free. I am hoping that this may help me improve quicker.

The accompanying app has lots of drills and videos to help improve your skiing technique, as well as displaying your metrics. This is the clever part, it uses these metrics to calculate you SkiIQ, this is completed using AI to check against data which has already been scored by top ski instructors. To find out more visit the Carv Website.

I will providing diary updates once they arrive and I start using it. You can also find a full list of metrics on my skiing progress page.
