As my progress seems to have stalled, I took the opportunity to book a one hour private lesson today, as well as using my birthday lift pass which I get as part of my Snow Center membership.

Today’s session is again focusing on my basic parallel turn, which is still some what elusive, but I am determined to crack it. The slope wasn’t too busy so I managed to get in twelve runs, with an added bonus of being the second person down the fresh groomed slope and I managed to get my favorite side.

The slope conditions today are a bit chopped up, for some reason my Carv data is not showing today, but I got a few good runs in concentrating on getting parallel. The conditions seem to be challenging me.

Back to Parallel Skis as my Carv focus metric on a quiet slope.
18 Jun 2025 13:14
Another quiet day on the slopes, Carv has moved my focus metric to edge similarity, there must be a reason, so I will give it a try.

After almost a month off due to other plans. You can tell ski season is over as the slope is very empty, I ain’t complaining. I am trying out my new Völkl skis today so I am going slower while I get used them.

The slope is a bit chopped up today.

Another session to try and achieve parallel skis which is still eludes me. The slope conditions are good with plenty of space to carry out my runs in.

After the ski holiday, I have decided to move my skiing to fortnightly, with the aim to get myself to parallel skiing and if I am still struggling to achieve this by June, I will look to book a private skill lesson. My Carv recommended focus area is Parallel Skis. The slope is busy, but there are plenty of gaps to get some good runs in. I am trying to focus in on the individual Carv metrics to get me parallel.

After another day off to help my thighs recover, we head back to Zloam. It worked well for me last time we get in a couple of runs.

After a day off from skiing as my thighs were killing, due to the amount of snowploughing I did trying to complete run 25 at Loser. We head to a new slope, Zloam which is closer to the hotel. I have written a review of Zloam on the Ski Destinations page.

Day two, we arrive back at Loser and I pick run 25, accessed by a chair lift, I am a bit wary after seeing mishap videos on YouTube, we set off, my mate giving me guidance I enjoy the journey watching the skiers on the red runs. We arrive towards the top, which is where most people seem to struggle, but I achieve it with ease.
